News Verification Checklist

Do not publish, retweet, or share until you have cleared these steps:

1. Check the domain. Is it abcnews.com or abcnews.co.co? 2. Find the original source. If a blog cites a report, click through to the report. 3. Verify the date. Old news shared as breaking is a common tactic. 4. Read past the headline. 60% of shared links are never clicked by the sharer. 5. Check the author. Do they exist? Do they have a track record? 6. Verify the images. Reverse image search takes 5 seconds. 7. Look for corroboration. If it's a massive breaking story, is anyone else reporting it?
